Khayrun Gure: What were some challenges working in your role in Tessellate?

Nayha Hamid: Since we were working with such a large team, the biggest challenge becomes ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard. It is important to make sure that no one is being left behind, and that everyone’s ideas are being incorporated.

KG: Are there any publications that inspire you?

NH: Any publication that prides itself on promoting authors of colour and celebrating diverse voices is inspirational to me.

KG: What does a novel need to include for you to finish reading it?

NH: Lots of twists and turns and a strong plot line.

KG: Do you prefer ebooks, print, or audiobooks? Or all?

NH: Print all the way!

KG: Do you have a book that you have read more than once?

NH: This might be a little embarrassing to admit, but the Twilight Saga is what made me fall in love with reading, and I have read those books over 80 times.

KG: What do you require in a room to stay focused?

NH: A coffee, a fine tip pen, and my cats.

KG: If you could spend one day with a popular author, who would it be?

NH: Suzanne Collins because The Hunger Games is one of my favourite series.
